» Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)

Excessive sweating is an illness called hyperhidrosis that primarily brings about psychic strain to the patients. In cases without a distinguishable and diagnosable underlying disease (e.g. a thyroid disease, dyshormonism), botulinum toxin treatment, a sweat gland suction, or a SmartLipo/ Laserlipolysis may be helpful.

Many people are suffering excessive sweating, especially in the armpits as well as hands or feet. Whereas normal sweating is a natural and important function of the body, hyperhidrosis often affects quality of life. The persons concerned often feel inhibited and tend to avoid demonstrative and personal gestures. This does not only make difficult social contacts but does often even lead to discomfort at work, especially for persons who have direct contact with other people. Others feel embarrassed. Sweating is usually being associated with being nervous and unsure or with missing hygiene.

Sweating which is limited to smaller areas like the armpit can be successfully treated with Botulinumtoxin. The same mechanism which is reducing the muscles activity during wrinkle treatment does work similar for the perspiratory glands. The stimulus transmission is temporarily inhibited. As a consequence there is no sweat production possible anymore.

Another very successful treatment form of axillary hyperhidrosis is the suction of the perspiratory glands (suction curettage) with tumescence local anaesthesia. This method allows to gently and durably remove a big part of the perspiratory glands. After having softened the perspiratory glands and the tissue by means of the tumescence solution, a long, stub point needle is being introduced into the lower skin fat tissue through two minimal skin cuts. And the perspiratory glands are being extraxted.

If you suffer from hyperhidrosis or if you just feel uncomfortable while sweating, Dr. med. Kuschnir will be pleased to inform you about possible therapies. Botulinumtoxin having admission of the German drugs authorities for the indication of axillary hyperhidrosis, costs for this treatment are covered by many private health insurances. If it is a pure cosmetic treatment, you have to pay on your own.
