Lower Eyelid Surgery / "baggy eyelids"
Correction of the lower lids can de done by conventional or laser surgery.
Surgery is usually done ambulant under local anaesthesia in our own operation rooms with cuts following natural skin lines at about 1-2 mm below the lid where skin, muscle and adipose are being resected then. Fat reduction is not always necessary. The apidose prolapsing from the eyehole (“baggy eyelids”) can also be used for smoothening and contouring of the lower lid area.
During laser surgery excessive apidose is being resected from the interior through the conjunctiva. Wrinkles are being reduced in the sense of skin resurfacing.
The operation takes about 60 minutes and is done under local anaesthesia, half-sleep of general anaesthesia, if desired.
The period of recovery is 10 days. Take some rest after the operation and do some cooling with ice water during the first days. All kinds of sports can be fully practiced again after about 3 weeks.
